I realized yesterday that I put too much pressure on myself to be even keel all the time. I don't want the kids to see me having bad days. I don't like the way I respond and act when I feel down. But someone pointed out to me that that isn't real life. Being even keel all the time doesn't teach them about real emotions and how to work through them. Ups and downs are normal. Experiencing a range of emotions is healthy. Telling my kids
mommy is feeling yucky today...I need some space is healthy. It sets boundaries and gives them permission to feel yucky too.
