My children love their books. And it's fun when they go through cycles and just have to read the same books over and over and over and over again.
Grant's favorite right now is But No Elephants and we play this little game when we read. I read the part of Grandma Tildy and say that of course I would like to buy this or that animal and then I point to Grant and he proudly says, No Effants! He thinks that is so much fun and so we finish the story, and then he says, Weed again!
Madeline is very fond of the Fancy Nancy series, one of which she got for her birthday. This is an adorable story of a little girl who just thinks her family is too plain and so she has to give them lessons in how to be fancy. Madeline walks around quoting parts of the book saying that things are stupendous...that's a fancy way of saying 'great'... And she uses her best British accent! Plus, there's a part in the book where Fancy Nancy goes out to eat with her family and they all call each other "darling" and eat with their pinkies up. We do this while we eat lunch sometimes...even Grant enjoys the story so much that we point to him and he says, FANCY!
Books, books, wonderful books!
